Grateful Giveaway!

Gosh it really has been the busiest last few weeks since I’ve got on here. Life has been so so very good to me lately, and I hope it has been just as good to you all! That is why I have decided to do another *GIVEAWAY*! The first giveaway I did was more of just a FUN one to start the kick off of my website; this one has a little more intention behind it.

A few weeks ago, I had lunch with a colleague of mine and a lady we met at a networking meeting. We had an excellent lunch and at the end we got to talking about other ways besides phone calls that we interact with our clientele to show them we are thinking of them/haven’t forgotten them. She told me that she challenged herself to write 5 handwritten cards a day. Even if she was writing them closer to midnight than 7am, she still got in her 5. She challenged me to do the same. I was already writing cards to my clientele, but she encouraged me to reach a little bit further. Write a card to a friend, write a card to someone I met at a networking meeting, write a card to someone I wanted to meet with, etc.

And honestly, she had an excellent point. In a world bound up with text messages and emails, a handwritten note is the best touch to getting your emotion and the importance of a message across. It is always EASIER to pick up the phone and talk; a handwritten note takes effort, time, and thought. It shows that someone stopped what they were doing to hand-write how they feel about you.

Soooo that is what I am challenging all my followers to do the month leading up to Thanksgiving. After all, we are entering the season of feeling Grateful, Thankful, and Blessed. I am posting this giveaway tomorrow on my Instagram page. The giveaway is HUGE! It includes: a pack of 48 blank cards, beautiful rose gold pens, a gratitude journal, a KYLIE lip kit, a cute fall clutch/cross body, two pairs of fun earrings, a bath and body works fall candle, and a gift card to Co-La and Co to celebrate becoming a brand rep!

All you must do is tag two friends on my post (even better if they don’t already follow me!) who could benefit from writing more cards to their clients, friends, family, business associates, etc. telling them how thankful they are for their relationship or looking forward to the relationship they will create! You will receive a bonus entry for reposting to your story, please mention my handle in your story so I see it! MUST be following me in order to win. Contest will be end on Wednesday, October 22nd at 10:00 P.M. EST. Contest winner will be announced Thursday, October 23rd at 8:30 P.M. EST. Thanks for following along!

A few of my favorite products!

Wooohooo Friday! I said it on Instagram earlier this week, but why does it feel like when we have 4 day weeks they are the most hectic? Is it because we try to cram five days of work into 4 days? I. Don’t. Know.

The best part about this four day week is that my amazon storefront went live. This is something I’ve been working on for a while now. The first tab I want to discuss is the Beauty/Health tab, because these are all my must have products. You can view them here, https://www.amazon.com/shop/macy_lewis?listId=1NQIPYNZJW2L0.

The first product I want to discuss is that berry lip color I wear in a lot of my photos. My sister initially got me hooked on it a few years ago, and now I would say I just keep it in my beauty arsenal. It is the $5 NYX lip color you will find on the list. LOVEEE! A tube in my car, my desk, and my purse. Always.

Another make up product I linked is my HEAVY duty concealer. No, it’s not my every day. One tube will last you an eternity, and I have not found another product like it. It’s for those “I’m getting 4 hours of sleep each night, help me” days. I have also included the best setting spray in the world. My favorite eyebrow shaper that I use often. I have also linked my favorite make up primer.. It is a bit more pricey than usual, but it is the best I have used so far. You will also find my contour kit and a few eyeshadow pallets I enjoy. Plus I tacked on a few mascaras I cannot live without!

I have three dry shampoos linked. The Moroccan Oil is BY FAR the best that money can buy. My hair stylist Haylee Neier showed me the Moroccan Oil products, and I have been hooked ever since. If I’m out of Moroccan Oil, I will use the cheap stuff like, Big Sexy Hair and Batiste. Those are linked also. Big Sexy Hair used to be my go-to, but now I use Moroccan Oil the most. It WILL change your life.

You will also find my wet brush, teasing comb, Wella mousse (Thanks again, Haylee), Moroccan Oil Dry Texture Spray, shampoo and conditioner, It’s A Ten with Keratin, my curling wand, and the best hairspray ever created listed on the storefront.

I have linked two sets of lashes I use consistently, Breathe Right essential oils that Walter and I both love, the ONLY razors I can use for sensitive skin, and my new favorite body wash. I have also added Walter’s new favorite body wash and shampoo! Walter also loves the Harry's face lotion, taming cream, and razors. He LOVES them!

I have been tanning bed free for almost two years now. To keep my bronze look I either use St. Moriz or the St. Tropez product. I will say that the St. Tropez lasts longer, with that being said it is also more expensive. It truly is all about personal preference when it comes to tanning products. To get my tan to last, I use the Vaseline Intensive Care lotion to keep my skin moisturized; it’s linked!

A few other health products are the apple cider vinegar capsules and the SLEEP powder by Alani Nutrition. I take SLEEP any night I’m not on call.

The next products I want to discuss are products I use in my skincare routine. I have struggled with cystic hormonal acne for a long time. This is going to be a long post because I haven’t done just one specific thing to heal my skin, but many things.

The ONE product that changed my skincare life was Alani Nutrition BALANCE. I have been on a subscription since November 2018. I will never stop taking it. I’ve linked it, get on my storefront. Click the product, read the reviews, and buy it. Don’t look back. I will do another post on Balance another day, because it seriously deserves its very own.

I use the CeraVe facewash, which is also linked. After I use that, I take a cotton pad and use a mixture of apple-cider vinegar and witch hazel on my face. Once that is dry I will take the Vitamin C serum which is linked and rub it all on my face and neck. Ocassionally I will add in the moisturizing anti-wrinkle cream that is also linked.

My skin is at it’s absolute best when I do all those things, but it is AMAZING when I am taking collagen with my Balance. Vital Proteins collagen products are the best. The ones that I use are all linked in the shop. You will never REGRET collagen. It’s also great for joint health! I also take the Alani Nu Hair Skin and Nails for a little bit extra beauty health.

If I have an emergency zit/cyst I will use the Acne Dote patches. I got the worst zit right before a wedding last fall, and I used the patch a day prior. It worked wonders. If you look at the photos, you cannot tell I had an awful zit at all. Lifesaver and inexpensive for how many you get. I don’t travel without these suckers!

If you have one question about anything please, please, please send me a message via my email or on my Instagram!

I know this is probably long winded, but seriously, I love everything I use. I cannot afford a beauty arsenal where I spend $200 on a skincare regimen each month. I cannot afford a $50 lip color. I LOVE nice things! There is a way to have nice things within your budget. There is a way to have products that are good for you and your body that you can afford. Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you must spend hundreds of dollars to be fabulous; you already are, no matter what.

The Brand- My Logo

Hi there!

Welcome to my blog!

Why a blog?

This is not my first go with blogging. About five to six years ago I wrote a Christian based blog that did fairly well. I was getting around 3,000 reads per post, which at 19/20 I thought was really awesome. I purely started it for fun, and honestly, because I have always liked writing. It has always been natural for me since I was little. I have never really struggled with writing papers in school or on standardized testing. This is going to be really different though, as this is organic content coming from my life. As I have expanded myself in my career, my relationship, and just generally in life (aging is so awesome), I wanted to share my unique experiences and perspective on things. I feel that for a 26 year old I have a lot of unique aspects that some other women want to be better at or these other women who do have these aspects don't want to feel like they are alone. I have been a big reader of blogs lately, and some of them I honestly just cannot stand. Which leads me to my next point, Why a brand?

Why a brand?

I read these blogs, and I feel like I'm just reading the same thing over and over again. I am seeing the same Nordstrom links and LikeToKnow.IT swipe ups. I am seeing the same women do the same ads, over and over and over again. I am seeing the same content, but simply from a different face. No offense to any of these women, because I do enjoy their insta stories and suggestions. I just simply can't afford the things they wear or the places they suggest travelling. I love following these beautiful women and getting their fashion and beauty finds, etc. But, I was looking for something more. I was looking for inspiration, affordable items, and just honestly life tips. {It's tough being a woman in today's world, let's be honest.} If I was going to do this again, I was going to do it differently. I was going to make it my own and not a social media carbon copy. I am not saying I'm better or special, but lifestyle blogging is not going to be my form of income. Like to Know It links are not how I pay my bills. I want to share content for the mid-western/suburban women who aren't necessarily world travelers or sporting designer clothes every day. I wanted my brand to have substance with a touch of elegance and style, and I wanted a way to share that with women besides my social media pages, which brings me to my next point, Why a website?

Why a website?

Let me start by saying that I am a funeral director for a living. I am not a social media guru, I am not super technologically savvy, and I don't know much about branding. But, I knew if I was coming back to this, I wanted my own logo and my own website. I wanted something that was very "me" to make me separate from everyone else. Because let's be honest, there are hundreds of thousands of women with a blog. Hence, www.macy-lewis.com was born. It took me quite a while to get the website designed, the domain created, and the logo made. It was not easy, and I was getting really frustrated. I poured a lot of effort into getting this figured out, and I am almost happy with the final product. I plan to keep tweaking it in the coming months, but nothing perfect happens overnight.

What content will you provide?

This is the part that I'm most excited about. While I do love fashion and intend to share a lot of outfits, accessories, and finds, I have a lot of other things I am passionate about. My career is huge to me and takes up the majority of my time. Expect a lot of career and goal inspiration from me. I'm also going to discuss a lot about funerals for those who are curious. If you don't care to read my funeral posts, just skip over politely. I really enjoying cooking, music, and fitness; so expect a lot of posts with my recipes, my takes on a new album, or gym finds! Walter (The best boyfriend ever) and I have been really trying to try new restaurants, so I want to include some reviews on restaurants and items to try. Walter and I also just recently moved out of my one bedroom walk-up to a two bedroom home that we are renting, I consider it to be the first thing that is "ours", so look for home inspo here also. This past spring I was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Church. It was the best thing to happen to me besides finding Walter, so be prepared to read about my experience in the Catholic Church. And then finally, I want to write about the things YOU want to hear about. I want to stay relatable, so please feel free to send me writing prompts. My email is macy.lauren.lewis@gmail.com .

Thank you for being here. Thank you for supporting this new writing and branding gig of mine. I'm not here to make an income, but more so an impact.

Cheers to a new journey!

Best,

-Macy
